Renouncing Paganism, the traditions of men and heathen holidays in order to be free to give your will to the Lord. Now that you are a Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you need to understand that there are many things that you have been co-operating with that are not of Him or His Kingdom. The very first thing to know is that- ALL THINGS, TRADITIONS, HOLIDAYS, METHODS AND REASONS OF CELEBRATING PRIOR TO THE WORKS OF MESSIAH ARE PAGAN AND HEATHEN. EXCEPT OF COURSE THE OLD TESTAMENT. (Also known as the Tanakh in Hebrew.)
Here is a brief overview: At the Tower of Babel God scrambled all the languages of the people and then they were scattered in all directions across the globe. That is why the same gods are all called different names but are the same little “g” gods. The way they celebrated these gods is similar in all the heathen cultures even though some changes have occurred over the centuries and millennia.
The Feasts of the Lord are the ways God has asked that His people would celebrate Him. This is found in Leviticus 23. God says that one thing He hates is when His people celebrate using the heathen ways and then say it is for Him. We find in the book of Jeremiah an instruction not to cut the green tree, bring it into our homes and affix it to stand and then adorn it with silver and gold…as the heathen do. Sound familiar? This is the description of the Christmas tree. God’s people were always practicing this holiday with the heathens and they still are today. ONLY NOW we have inserted God’s Son into the heathen holiday…
Did you know that Tammuz was born on December 25th? And THAT is one of the reasons that the heathens cut down the tree and adorn it? (Ezekiel has a reference to how angry God was over the Hebrew women weeping for Tammuz. This became Lent in today’s modern culture where Christianity has been mixed with paganism.)
Here is a link to a Brother’s website page that lists the things that we need to RENOUNCE. (you may see some things on there that you do not understand why they are there, but if you refer back to the fact that all things except the Word of God are pagan then you will gain insight.)
